Update

Well, its been two years since I’ve worked on this website. The time line changed a bit from the last time. Also some changes to my life in general.

The changes:

Completed qualifying exams in February 2010

Gave dissertation proposal in May 2010

Moved to San Antonio July 2010

Began data collection August 2010

Now that I am working on my dissertation full time, I anticipate updating the blog more often. This is the first step to that.

The next step is….?

So I am about a semester or so away from finishing up course work. I have an outline for my dissertation topic. And I’m wondering what to do next. Should I start looking into the exam process? What does that require?

Hopefully soon I will get together with some fellow grad students and ask for some help. I know of several other women in the same boat, so we are working together to figure out the next step. I’ll keep you posted.

Asking for permission

So as you know I have started the journey that I call dissertation. I’m trying to figure out just exactly what steps to take and so I wrote up an outline. I then sent the outline to friends and family that I trust. It was my way of asking for permission. I have yet to asked for permission from the “elders” of the community. Unfortunately there are no clear cut elders. If I were to use a decolonialized methodology, I would ask them for permission first. So I used the next best thing, my family and friends. And so I’m waiting for a reply.

My dissertation journey

It has begun. This journey toward dissertation. I wish I knew the exact path, but if I did then it wouldn’t be as fun, I guess. This site is where I hope to share my journey. I hope to post updates, outlines, drafts, etc. So come back time to time and see what’s new.
